Todd Compton is an American author and independent scholar who specializes in the history of Mormonism. He was born on June 19, 1952, in Berkeley, California, and received his education at the University of Utah and the University of California, San Diego. Compton has written several books on the history of Mormonism, including "In Sacred Loneliness: The Plural Wives of Joseph Smith," which is considered a groundbreaking work on the topic. He has also published articles and essays on Mormon polygyny, women in Mormon history, and other topics related to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
